This arrangement is intended for the more advanced performer. Whilst it is not an overtly flamboyant display of virtuosity, there is much demanded of the pianist’s technique in providing continuity and prominence to the solo cello line within the orchestral texture. The sustained melodic lines need to be projected in order to capture the quintessential English spirit of the music. This is an unabridged transcription of the entire first movement of Elgar’s Cello Concerto.
